Are You Allergic to Your Food?:
There are many food allergies that lurk, allergies that you may not even be aware of. Commonly, food allergies are associated with peanuts, or shellfish - the type of allergies that cause severe, often instant reactions.
However, there are many types of food allergies that you may not even be aware of. From dermatitis to sinus infections, there may be an underlying cause that is sitting right on your kitchen counter.
Chronic Sinus Infections
This can often be traced to an underlying allergy to milk. Cow's milk contains several proteins that are not digestible by humans. Since a cow is a ruminant, this means that they have several stomachs, four to be exact. By the time milk protein passes through a calf's four stomachs, it has been completely digested.
Humans, of course, have only one stomach, which means that these proteins can cause harmful reactions if you are allergic to them. If you find that you are suffering from chronic sinus infections, you may want to have yourself tested for a milk allergy.
Migraine Headaches
Many migraine sufferers are not aware that the cause of their headaches may be an ingredient found in the majority of canned and processed foods. Monosodium Glutamate or MSG is a popular preservative that is found in soup, dips, sauces, spices as well as take-out food.
Reactions to MSG can be instant, or may take up to 3 days to present. If you find that you are getting migraines after eating a certain type of food, make sure to read your labels. If MSG is present, there is a good chance that you are allergic to MSG or MSG intolerant.
Dermatitis
Sufferers of Celiac disease or people that are gluten intolerant, may find that they break out in a rash after eating foods containing wheat or wheat gluten. This rash is commonly seen on the face and/or hands and looks like extremely dry skin at first. As it progresses, it can turn into painful red patches.
If you have found that you are breaking out after eating bread, or common wheat products, try removing them from your diet to see if they are the culprit.
Your best course of action is to visit a physician who is able to diagnose and treat food allergies if you are suffering from any of the above symptoms. They will be able to assist you in finding out what is causing your problems and will be able to help you overcome these allergies.
